maternity and Newborn

Over the last few years, maternity and newborn sessions have really become a part of the whole newborn experience.

So you're wondering, "How does this all work?" Well, let's work together...

HOW TO BOOK YOU SESSION

The Right Fit

First ask yourself… Is Creative Portraits the right fit for me? The fit has to be perfect and so does the price, am I right?     Do you love my style?     My approach?  I prefer to work with natural light in and around your home.   Does the price fit? Clients generally spend between $500 and $1000 on print collections. Take a look HERE so there are no surprises when it comes to choosing your favorite images.

Contact Me

So, we fit well together, awesome! The next thing is to contact me, see if I'm available around your due date and reserve your portrait session. I only schedule one "due date" per week for newborn sessions. This is so I have time to manage your session from start to finish.

Please plan on contacting me 2-3 months in advance for your newborn session. If it's last minute, don't hesitate, call anyway.

Choose A Location

Your place or mine?  The choice is yours, although most parents choose to come to my home studio. I can offer a greater variety of props and there is less preparation (tidying up) on your part.     Some parents choose to have me come to their home. They prefer to keep their newborn at home, or mom might be having a difficult recovery after childbirth, making travel difficult.     AND some parents simply prefer the look of lifestyle newborn photography in their home (natural poses in a natural setting.)

creative Headshots

What is a headshot?

A traditional headshot is an accurate, clear image of an individual's head and shoulders. Generally a headshot is used as a professional identity to market one's services and talents.

A great headshot will show your unique talents and make you look your best to potential clients, possible directors and the public in general. It will convey something about who you are and leave a lasting impression. A great headshot stands out and creates a feeling for the viewer to want to know more about you.

My Approach...

to Creative Headshots…a little more than just head and shoulders. I prefer to work with natural light. I strive to create natural-looking, relaxed "poses", making you look extremely approachable and to show your personality.

I will use reflectors, shades and artificial lights as necessary, too. Tools to help capture the best you.

HS Seniors

Senior year is finally here and it's all about you!
Capturing being a senior only happens once and being prepared for your session is the best foundation to a great portrait. Do you want to look great, feel great, and enjoy the session? The best way to do that is to properly prepare.

What to Wear

Start with a classic timeless outfit. A white or black shirt with jeans is a good look for anybody. Girls, simple solid colored dresses look great. Guys, pair a solid polo shirt with jeans or khakis, or wear slacks with a nice button down. Remember solid colors tend to photograph better than loud patterns.

Wearing something that is comfortable, may or may not look good on you. Maybe a classic timeless look is not your style, then accessorize! A hat, a scarf, a belt…bring pair of funky shoes or boots, a trendy jacket or sunglasses…accessories can bring an outfit together. Bring personal "props" to make your portraits all about you.

Here's where it gets fun. Do you play an instrument? or a sport? Are you an artist or a skateboarder? A clothing consultation is key! This can be done via email.

Hair and Makeup

Be you! Wear your hair and makeup naturally. Girls, if you normally don't wear a lot of makeup (or very little) this is not the time to try out bold new colors. Guys make sure you're clean shaven. If you normally sport facial hair, make sure it's freshly trimmed.

A little hint-don't try something new right before your session. You want to love your portraits and not hate them because of a bad haircut. You know what works for you, so stick with it!
